Fact or Fiction: Dillon Gabriel, Nico Iamaleava, ACC Quarterbacks

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Dillon Gabriel should be on pre-season Heisman lists

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I know we all expect Oklahoma QBs to be Heisman candidates and Gabriel had some good years at UCF but I believe OU takes a step back offensively next season. Jeff Lebby is a great offensive coordinator but with a new QB and some receiver losses (Jadon Haselwood, Mario Williams, etc) there are too many questions for me to have him as a pre-season contender. But as we saw this week, new coach Brent Venables is high on him and the last time he arrived in Norman a lefty named Josh Heupel transferred in. You never know.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Nico Iamaleava is the top player in the country

Farrell’s take: FICTION. This question arose when I said Arch Manning wasn’t No. 1 because the Vols commitment has such a high ceiling as a 6-6, 205 pound string bean who makes amazingly good decisions. But if a QB is No. 1, and I’m still deterring that, Iamaveala isn’t it. He’s good, possibly the next Hendon Hooker at Tennessee, but others are better right now.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

The ACC has the best group of quarterbacks next season

Farrell’s take: FACT

And it’s not that close honestly. From Devin Leary to Tyler Van Dyke and Sam Hartman to Brennan Armstrong and Phil Jurkovec, the depth is impressive. When a talent like Malik Cunningham comes in at No. 6 in a conference, you know there’s a lot of talent. The SEC can make a case with Bryce Young, Hooker, Will Levis and KJ Jefferson but I give the slight not to the ACC.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
