CJ Carr’s commitment to Notre Dame is embarrassing for Michigan.
Farrell’s take: FACT
This isn’t a sinister take or a slam on Jim Harbaugh at all, but a 10,000 foot view of the commitment to Notre Dame from the grandson of legendary Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr is just not a great look. Yes Carr wanted to make his own way and didn’t want to play so close to home as he finishes his high school career at Saline near Ann Arbor. And a case could be made that the pressure at Notre Dame will be less than it would be at Michigan with so many ties to the Wolverines. But let’s be real. Legacy recruits are important and 5-star quarterbacks are more important so this one just doesn’t look great on paper if you’re a Michigan fan.

CB Kaleb Cost will choose UNC this weekend.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The 6-foot-1, 180 pound 4 star from Georgia will announce this weekend and despite good efforts from Pitt, Georgia Tech and others he will end up at UNC barring a surprise. Mack Brown continues to prove he’s an elite recruiter and the addition of Gene Chizik was huge here. This may sound dumb not but in a year or so UNC will be known more for defense than for offense and that’s what Cost is counting on.

Arch Manning would actually redshirt for the right school.
Farrell’s take: FACT
I learned this today. Let’s be honest, he doesn’t want to and used to make it clear he wanted to play right away but that stance has softened recently as he looks at three schools — Georgia, Alabama and Texas — who all have a ton of young quarterback talent. Texas has the edge with the last of these three visits and with Quinn Ewers there this season and next, it’s possible that Manning would sit and learn from Ewers (or Hudson Card) his freshman year. This is a bit of a change in the game according to my sources and could bode well for Steve Sarkisian as UGA appears to be the biggest competition.
