Fact or Fiction: Arch Manning and UGA, Saban vs. Fisher, and SEC early transfer deadline

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Georgia leads for Arch Manning heading into these key visits

Farrell’s take: FICTION

It’s still Texas from what I’m hearing and they have the last shot with UGA and Alabama up first. But let’s make this clear — UGA not only was the leader at one point but he was pretty much a lock for the Dawgs. I have a great source on this. And then Caleb Williams went into the portal and UGA showed interest and Georgia fell off. Now they’ve clawed their way back, they didn’t get Williams and when all is said and done I think they land Manning in the end. It’s a gut feeling. The family loves Austin and Steve Sarkisian but let’s not forget how much winning means to the Mannings and UGA offers that over Texas. This is going to get interesting and I’ll get the UGA lean rumors start right after his official visit this weekend.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

The Saban-Fisher spat has been put to rest

Farrell’s take: FICTION

No way. The right things were all said at the coaches meeting but let’s be real. Saban hates Jimbo and Jimbo hates Saban. And that’s okay. In fact it’s great. They are SEC rivals, they have each won a national title (Saban a few more) and their battles from here on will be epic. There is zero doubt in my mind that Saban meant everything he said about Jimbo buying players and the hatred Fisher spat back is legit and he has dirt on Saban. But everyone has dirt on everyone, that’s life. Let’s see how this plays out on the field but this spat will occur again.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

The SEC early transfer deadline needs to be changed

Farrell’s take: FACT

The SEC was worried about canniblizing themselves with immediate SEC to SEC transfers so they set a date of Feb. 1 to declare and be eligible to transfer within conference. Auburn coach Bryan Harsin thinks that’s fair. Nick Saban and others don’t. I think it should universally be May 1 as it is for everyone else and let the chips fall where they may. After spring football your immediate needs are much more visible and coaches should have the right to pluck players off other conference rosters to help if they need to. Will it make the stronger even that much more strong? Yep. But everything in college football is doing that and the players deserve the extra time to evaluate their status.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
