Fact or Fiction: Eli Holstein, Alabama vs. Texas A&M, and Florida State’s Offense

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

Nick Saban took QB Eli Holstein as a shot at Jimbo Fisher

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I was asked this question a few times. Holstein was a Texas A&M commitment after all and de-committed from Jimbo Fisher in March. And the timing of it all after the Saban-Fisher war of words over buying players is suspicious but let’s be real. The day Nick Saban takes a recruit, and a QB at that, to upset another coach is the day he needs to retire. Alabama doesn’t play like that.

Alabama-Texas A&M should be a night game

Farrells take: FACT

What the heck? An 11 AM kickoff for this game? The Aggies upset Alabama last season and Jimbo Fisher has obviously upset Nick Saban with NIL so this is a nice feud. And imagine the work up to it on TV if it was a prime time game or even a mid-day start? I love big games in the morning don’t get me wrong, but this is a prime-time fight if there ever is one next season in the SEC.

Florida State’s offense will be the worst in the ACC

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I was looking at the FSU offensive roster and it’s not pretty so it got me thinking — could they be the worst offensive team in the ACC? Last season only Syracuse, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Duke scored fewer points than the Seminoles and BC obviously had a big injury to QB Phil Jurkovec. But the others shouldn’t improve much overall. Syracuse has a great running game but poor QB play, Virginia Tech struggles at QB, Georgia Tech lost their best playmaker in Jahmyr Gibbs and Duke is just bad. The ‘Noles likely have zero offensive playmakers you’ve heard of unless you’re a diehard ACC fan and they will be worse than middle of the pack offensively, but I was kind of relieved to see they won’t be the worst. That would be embarrassing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
