Fact or Fiction: Jordan Addison, Nick Saban, and Texas A&M

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or FICTION.

Jordan Addison will catch more than 100 passes next season at USC

Farrell’s take: FICTION

He had 100 as a sophomore at Pitt last season but I don’t see him matching that number out in LA or surpassing it. Why? So many factors. Kenny Pickett was a better passer than Caleb Williams will be next season, Williams runs more than Pickett did and USC has depth and other playmakers. Yes I know Drake London had 88 catches in 8 games last season with very average QB play before he got hurt and Addison’s projections to me are in the 120 catch range. But that means everything has to go perfectly — he has to avoid injury, the offensive line needs to step up and Williams needs to progress as a passer. It all could happen but if I’m a betting man I say he catches 85-95 passes for 1,400 yards or so. Not shabby at all. Fact or Fiction?

Nick Saban will apologize publicly to Deion Sanders

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Jimbo Fisher says he doesn’t want to talk to Saban after his accusation that Texas A&M bought their recruiting class in 2022 thanks to NIL. And Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders wants a public apology from Saban after the Alabama coach wanted to chat privately. He’s not going to get it. Saban was as contrite as he gets in his statement following the incident and it was nothing near an apology. It was an explanation and an excuse for things being taken out of context and was only done because it was forced by SEC commissioner Greg Sankey. That was an SEC thing. For Sanders, who was accused of putting the wheels in motion to pay recruit Travis Hunter $1 million to come to Jackson State, he won’t get anything more. Can you picture Nick Saban publicly apologizing to Sanders even with their previous relationship through AFLAC commercials? Oh wait, if AFLAC demand that he apologize, maybe he will. That’s big money. Fact or Fiction?

Alabama will beat Texas A&M badly next season

Farrell’s take: FACT

It’s gonna be ugly. After losing to Zach Calzada and A&M last season on the road, a stronger Alabama team hosts Fisher and company in October in Tuscaloosa. And it will be a rout. My prediction? Alabama drops 60 on the Aggies as Saban runs up the score. Fact or Fiction?
