[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]On Monday night, Georgia Tech continued to be one of the more aggressive programs in the portal with the addition of Clemson transfer quarterback Taisun Phommachanh.

Clemson experience:

Phommachahn completed 22 of 48 passes for 204 yard and one touchdown in 13 career games with the Tigers. He also rushed for 150 yards and one touchdown.

Time in the Portal:

After more than five months in the portal, Phommachanh ended his portal process with a commitment to the Yellow Jackets. New Mexico, Troy, BYU, UTSA, Georgia State, and UMass were some of the other schools that were involved.

Current situation:

He will join another transfer quarterback, Zach Gibson from Akron, as the duo will fight it out for the starting job this summer. Jeff Simms, who played in seven games in 2021, will also be part of the competition. He is the second Clemson player to transfer to Georgia Tech in this cycle, following offensive lineman Paul Tchio.

Farrell’s Take:

He’s learned with the best at Clemson and that experience will carry over. He’s not a star but he’s a solid starter down the line for the Jackets and this could become a nice pipeline from Clemson if he has success. He’s a 3-star transfer to me.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
