Top 5 Wide Receivers Available in the Portal

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]The portal never sleeps. Here are the top five available guys at the wide receiver position as of right now:

1. Jordan Addison – Pittsburgh

Portal entry date: 5-3-2022

Grad-transfer: No

Career at Pittsburgh: In two seasons with the Panthers, Addison totaled 160 receptions for 2,259 yards and 21 touchdowns, en route to winning the Biletnikoff Award as a sophomore in 2021. He also added 16 carries for 114 yards and one touchdown.

Current situation: The immediate thought was that Addison would be USC bound once he officially hit the portal, and while he still may be, it may not be as much of a foregone conclusion as initially expected. Alabama is a serious player at this time, partially thanks to his friendship with quarterback Bryce Young, plus Texas is pushing hard to remain in the picture.

2. Cody Jackson – Oklahoma

Portal entry date: 4-25-2022

Grad-transfer: No

Career at Oklahoma: During his true freshman season with Oklahoma, Jackson finished with five receptions for 45 yards.

Current situation: Jackson has been relatively quiet since entering the portal, but he did recently take an official visit to USC. Other schools that are in the picture now are Arizona State, Washington, Florida, Kentucky, and Houston, which is making a very hard push to get him to play his college ball closer to home.

3. LV Bunkley Shelton – Arizona State

Portal entry date: 4-29-2022

Grad-transfer: No

Career at Arizona State: In two seasons with the Sun Devils, Bunkley-Shelton totaled 44 receptions for 518 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned six punts during the 2021 season.

Current situation: Bunkley-Shelton did not waste any time as he has already taken visits to Oklahoma and Kansas. Virginia Tech is next in line for a visit, while Utah, Texas Tech, Miami, and Oregon State and just four of the schools still trying to get Bunkley-Shelton on their campus.

4. Deion Smith – LSU

Portal entry date: 12-8-2021

Grad-transfer: No

Career at LSU: During his true freshman season in Baton Rouge, Smith totaled 11 receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Current situation: Unlike the other players on this list, Smith has been in the portal for months. There were rumors that he might return to LSU since he stayed on campus into the spring, but he did not participate in the team’s practices. So where will he likely end up? The rumor for a couple of months now is that he will return to his home state of Mississippi and play for the Rebels. And that remains his likely destination, while other schools like Penn State, South Carolina, Arizona State, Oregon, and Houston continue to try to change that outcome.

5. Ricky Pearsall – Arizona State

Portal entry date: 4-21-2022

Grad-transfer: No

Career at Arizona State: Pearsall totaled 61 receptions for 794 yards and five touchdowns during his time with Arizona State but had his best season in 2021 with 48 receptions for 580 yards and four touchdowns.

Current situation: Pearsall seems to have trimmed his list of schools down to Florida and Oregon after initially flirting with several others, such as Auburn and Notre Dame. He has already taken an official visit to Gainesville and will be in Eugene this weekend so a final decision should not be far away.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
