[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]The transfer portal never seems to stop churning. Here are the five best running backs in the portal right now. It’s not a sexy list but there is talent here.

1. Bentavious Thompson – UCF

Portal entry date: 11-17-2021
Grad-transfer: Yes

Career at UCF: During his final two seasons with UCF, Thompson rushed for 986 yards and 13 touchdowns, while averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He also added eight receptions for 37 yards.

Current situation: Thompson has taken his time finding his next school as he actually left the program in August, before officially entering the portal in November. Since his entry, schools have come and gone, with the current ones to watch being Tennessee, UTSA, and Western Kentucky.

2. Chaton Mobley – Middle Tennessee

Portal entry date: 1-10-2022
Grad-transfer: Yes

Career at Middle Tennessee: Mobley was a steady contributor with the Blue Raiders, finishing his time there with 1,432 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He also proved effective in the passing game with 39 receptions for 341 yards and three touchdowns.

Current situation: In an interesting twist, Mobley took an April official visit to Ole Miss, but as a linebacker recruit. He has not played the position since high school, but the Rebels are still working on trying to talk him into the change. Other interest has come in from the likes of Charlotte, Rutgers, Sam Houston, UNLV, Mississippi State, and Tulsa.

Current situation: Van Buren has remained patient since his December entry in the portal, with recent interest coming in from Virginia, Eastern Michigan, UConn, Fresno State, Kansas State and SMU.
