Fact or Fiction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

WR Jordan Addison will land at USC

Farrell’s take: FACT

Even with all this talk about pre-existing deals with the Trojans and the rumored matching of said deals (all of which is complete guesswork by the way), Addison will land in LA. Why? Because that’s where he wants to go and the NCAA is powerless to look into any potential tampering with the current rules in place and their simple lack of staffing to investigate this kind of thing. Is this good for football? It’s not. But it’s good for the players and that makes it a very uncertain terrain to navigate.

UGA will take over from Alabama as NFLU

Farrell’s take: FICTION

The Bulldogs had 15 players drafted this past week setting a new NFL record for one school. And this is a result of Kirby Smart’s amazing recruiting run since taking over the program and it’s not about to slow down. DT Jalen Carter and DE Nolan Smith are both potential top-10 picks next draft and many others will emerge. But it’s still Alabama as long as Nick Saban is still around. Alabama only had seven players drafted this past week which is low for them but next year it will be back to double digits and it wouldn’t stun anyone to see Saban break that UGA record with his ability in the portal.

Mike Locksley is the right fit at Maryland

Farrell’s take: FACT

Locks got extended to 2026 and he deserves it. One thing I keep hearing about from teams looking in the portal is how loaded the Maryland roster was. Yes it’s being poached and yes Maryland only went 7-6 last season with that roster, but many of the players were young. The Terps will fall on the wrong end of the portal until they start winning big, but Mike Locksley can find and recruit talent and that makes him the man at Maryland.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
