[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Nebraska fans have finally received some good news along the defensive line, as TCU defensive end Ochaun Mathis has decided to transfer in from TCU.

This brings the Cornhuskers to eight scholarship defensive linemen. Out of high school, Mathis held offers from TCU, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Purdue, and others. Since entering the portal It looked as if Nebraska and Texas were the two schools this would come down to but many were interested in landing his services.

Mathis is a 6’5″, 250-pound pass rusher that will immediately make an impact at Nebraska. Not only was he an All-Big 12 selection in back-to-back years, but he also had 12.5 career sacks, 26 tackles for loss, and 74 solo tackles. One of Mathis’s best traits is his ability to stop the run. In the run-heavy Big Ten conference, this makes him even more valuable. Mathis has two years of eligibility remaining and likely projects as a high-impact starter for both years if he doesnt head to the NFL after next season.

This is a high four-star transfer and a home run addition for Scott Frost. Landing an instant difference-maker at a position of need is about as best as you can ask for in an addition from the portal.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
