It may have taken longer than many expected, but last night, Charles Woodson’s son, Charles Woodson Jr., announced that he had received an offer from Michigan.

Considering his father was a Heisman Trophy winner and will forever be a legend in and around Ann Arbor, the offer from the Wolverines was a long time coming. Woodson Jr., a Class of 2027 defensive back who plays his high school football at Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida, has enjoyed a busy 2025, with his first 10 offers coming in.
The first offer came in from Syracuse in January, which was followed by Delaware, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Sacramento State, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Iowa State, Florida State and last night, the Wolverines.
Woodson Jr., 5-foot-11 and 155-pounds, finished his freshman season with 11 tackles, two pass breakups and one interception during limited varsity time. He then became a major part of the defense in 2024 with 53 tackles, two pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recovery.

As for his father, if anyone needs a reminder, Woodson played at Michigan from 1995 to 1997, where he won the Heisman Trophy, was a three-time All-Big Ten selection and also won the Jim Thorpe, Chuck Bednarik, Bronco Nagurski, and Walter Camp awards in 1997. He was then selected with the No. 4 overall pick of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. During his time with the Raiders and Green Bay Packers, he made eight All-Pro teams, was the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1998, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, was a Super Bowl champion in 2011 and entered the NFL Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Wolverines were always going to be a major player for the younger Woodson, no matter when they offered, but now that they have officially joined the chase every school will be fighting an uphill battle in their attempts to pry him away from Ann Arbor.
