Identifying talent early is a huge part of high school recruiting. After seeing him in person over the weekend, Syracuse decided that they saw enough to offer Class of 2028 quarterback Owen Herrick.
After a great talk with @CoachNunz. I am extremely blessed to have received my first offer from Syracuse University! #AGTG@PCC_FOOTBALL @CoachLehmeier @BradMaendler @theking1 @theking1 pic.twitter.com/xMJXMG2yUL

While he is attending Central Catholic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Herrick wasn’t able to play during the 2024 season after he was denied eligibility by the WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League) because his transfer from Seneca Valley “was motivated in some way by athletics”.
Despite not playing during his freshman season, Herrick, 6-foot-2 and 185-pounds, showcased enough of his talents in front of the Syracuse coaching staff to pull in the offer. The lack of a highlight tape may slow down his recruiting process a bit, but as he continues to attend camps during the off-season, he will have the opportunity to impress additional coaching staffs.
With his first offer now on the table, it is only a matter of time before others join the early chase.
