By Patrick Weider

The SEC has produced a lot of outstanding running backs over the years. This year is shaping up to be a group of running backs light on experience, but several players could pop and have great years. This is still a good group of running backs as you expect from the SEC, and I expect several of the running backs listed below to have breakout years for their respective teams.

What was the best play of the regular season for Texas?🤘

• Matthew Golden TD at Arkansas
• 4th and Goal stop at A&M

1. Quintrevon Wisner, Texas

Wisner exploded onto the scene last year with a big year for the Longhorns. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards last year for Texas as he turned into the featured back. He is also lethal out of the backfield with 44 catches last year. Wisner is a good back who should be even better next season. He should be a steady force for the new starting quarterback Arch Manning.

2. Le’Veon Moss, Texas A&M

Moss is one tough and rugged running back for Texas A&M. He has a physical running style that is hard to tackle. He rushed for 765 yards and 10 touchdowns last year, and I expect his production will increase this year. He is awesome in short yardage and goal line with his physical running style.

3. Davon Booth, Missippippi State

Booth is “Mr. Consistent” for Mississippi State. He rushed for 759 yards last year and 805 yards the year before. He could be in line for a big season next year. He also rushed for an eye-popping 6.7 yards per carry, which is a great number.

4. Caden Durham, LSU

Durham was a good running back for LSU when he rushed for 753 yards. He also had a good 5.4 yards per carry last year. I expect an even bigger year next year for Durham when he and LSU should be a much improved team.

Jadyn Ott was a hot name going into last cycle. He definitely cooled off with an injury and a drop in production last year.

Don’t let that fool you into thinking his tape is mediocre. This dude can still pick up yards in chunks. Check him out. ⬇️@THEJAYDNOTT @OU_Football pic.twitter.com/NSWnH3LNAI

5. Jadyn Ott, Oklahoma

The first transfer portal player on the list is Ott, who transferred from California to Oklahoma. He was an outstanding running back for California for the last three years, so this is a great pick up for Oklahoma. I expect a huge year from him. Oklahoma has brought in a new offensive coordinator in Ben Arbuckle and Ott should help the offensive improve this season.

6. Nate Frazier, Georgia

Frazier had an excellent year for Georgia in his freshman season. The Bulldogs rotate their running backs a lot, but Frazier stood out with his vision and burst. He should be an even bigger contributor next year for Georgia, especially since they be breaking in a new starting quarterback in Gunner Stockton.

7. Ahmad Hardy, Missouri

Another strong transfer portal player. Hardy transferred from UL-Monroe where he put on a show last year. He rushed for 1,351 yards and 13 touchdowns. He should be a huge upgrade for Missouri as they have a need at the running back position.

Dante Dowdell is on 🔥 today!! Nebraska in control of this one!! @HuskerFootball pic.twitter.com/fXmWDt7a5E

8. Dante Dowdell, Kentucky

At Nebraska in 2024, Dowdell had a strong season and since then has transferred to Kentucky. He rushed for more than 600 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has great size at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, so he is a natural short-yardage and goal line running back. His goal with the transfer is to be a featured running back, which he will have a chance at doing at Kentucky.

9. Jadan Baugh, Florida

Baugh had a good first year starting for Florida. He rushed for 673 yards and seven touchdowns. He also averaged 5.1 yards per carry, which is excellent. Baugh has a great chance as well to increase his total for next year.

10. Jam Miller, Alabama

Miller had a solid year rushing for Alabama last year. He rushed for almost 700 yards and had seven rushing touchdowns. He could make a big jump for Alabama this year.
