High school football in Ohio showcases some of the best gridiron talent in the country, including Ohio prep star defensive lineman Grant Smith.
At 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, Smith is a two-time All-Ohio selection for the Patriots of Patrick Henry High School in Hamler, Ohio.
In 2024, Smith gave opposing coaches nightmares and left a lot of shredded offensive game plans in his wake. Smith racked up 120 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 14 sacks.
Smith led a Patriots defense that posted four shutouts and allowed the opposition just seven points per game through 14 games. Patrick Henry went 11-3 on the season, losing to Bluffton in the regional finals.
For his efforts, Smith earned several accolades, including:

It should be no surprise that Smith is on the radar of college coaches. Smith has received interest from schools such as Bowling Green, Toledo, Pitt, Miami (OH) and Central Michigan.
As Smith enters his senior season, if he can duplicate his production from last season, there could be more college coaches beating a path to the Patriots sidelines to watch Smith cause major disruption to opposing offenses.
The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, said this about Smith:
“2026 verified 3-star DL Grant Smith-great technique, strong hands and excellent tackler.”—Mike Farrell
