Football is consistently and steadily becoming more international. There are linemen from Sweden and Germany, kickers from Australia and Ireland, but how about a quarterback from Denmark? That is becoming more probable, as there is a Class of 2028 that is worth keeping an eye on.

Emil Lokkegaard is currently a high school freshman and already measures in at 6-foot-5, 205-pounds. He had been a part of the Copenhagen Towers program for a couple of years but has since moved over to the NFL Academy. If you’re wondering what the NFL Academy is:

“The major initiative by the NFL is an elite football development program for student-athletes. It looks to combine full-time education with transformative life skills and character development, alongside intensive training in American Football.”

There are currently two academies, one in Australia and the other in Loughborough, England, which is in the central part of the country between Leicester and Nottingham. This is where Lokkegaard is continuing his overall education and American football development.

Coming to the United State to attend camps at Boston College, Rutgers and Fordham will go a long way in further continuing this. With years remaining before he would play college football there is plenty of time for him to establish himself as a quarterback to watch in the Class of 2028.
