Scott Frost admitted today that Nebraska was the “wrong job” for him, but will UCF 2.0 be different?

The first day of Big 12 Media Day was an opportunity for several coaches to speak out. One of those was UCF head coach Scott Frost, whose return to Orlando gained plenty of attention during the offseason. One of the topics he touched upon was his coaching tenure at Nebraska, which he now sees as a mistake.

"Don't take the wrong job."

It is easy to see it as a mistake in 2025, but when Frost was hired on December 2, 2017, it was thought by almost everyone to be the perfect match. Frost was returning to Lincoln, a place that he was a star quarterback at, while Nebraska was hiring an up-and-coming head coach to try and help everyone forget about Mike Riley.

However, what followed were 4-8, 5-7, 3-5 and 3-9 seasons, before Frost was fired during the 2022 season after a 1-2 start. Having compiled a 16-31 record during his time with the Huskers wasn’t what Frost nor anyone in Lincoln was expecting. But that was the reality.

Fast forward a couple of years and everyone is excited to have Frost back at UCF, where he led the Knights to new heights during a 13-0 season in 2017. Now, everyone will have to wait and see what both sides are saying in 2030, because as everyone knows, things can change quickly.
