What does it take to be a high school football champion? Talent, hard work, determination, and putting the team before oneself. These attributes certainly describe 2026 safety Jayden Cowart, of Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Bulldogs have gone 28-0 over the last two seasons with back-to-back Virginia Class 3 state championships.

As an impactful defender at 6-foot, 190 pounds, Cowart has been a force on the gridiron for the Bulldogs since his sophomore season. Going into his third year as a starter, Cowart has had a productive two-year stretch for Liberty Christian.
Cowart has produced 187 tackles, seven INTs, and five fumble recoveries during those championship seasons. In 2024, Cowart racked up 87 tackles and two fumble recoveries for a defensive unit that allowed just 13 points per game.

To stay in prime football condition, Cowart trains in the weight room three days per week and works on his speed training twice per week. It certainly shows during game weeks during the season.
Cowart also excels in academics, maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
With his production and style of play, Cowart has drawn the attention of schools such as Liberty, Elon, New Hampshire, Yale, Towson, and Norfolk State.

In addition, Cowart has showcased his talent in front of college coaches at summer camps at Gardner-Webb and Elon, and he plans to attend camps at New Hampshire, Yale and Towson.
