It took longer than expected, but an elite program finally offered their first two Class of 2027 quarterbacks on Saturday morning

Recruiting high school quarterbacks is a unique process, with many getting offered years before their signing day. So, it has been odd that Notre Dame had been one of the only schools in the country not to have offered a Class of 2027 quarterback. That changed this morning when they offered their first two.

The first to announce his offer was Teddy Jarrad, who is a four-star playing his high school football at North Cobb in Kennesaw, Georgia. He took a visit to South Bend earlier this month and worked out in front of the coaching staff. At 6-foot-4 , 200-pounds, Jarrad has more than 30 offers, including Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Miami-Florida and North Carolina.

Peyton Houston, 6-foot-0 and 195-pounds, of Evangel Christian in Shreveport, Louisiana, also has upwards of 30 offers, including LSU, Texas, Colorado, Clemson, Texas A&M, Georgia and Oklahoma. He passed for 4,480 yards, 38 touchdowns and only six interceptions during his sophomore season. He also rushed for 690 yards and seven touchdowns.

While this puts Notre Dame in the chase, they are fighting an uphill battle since both quarterbacks have already established strong relationships with other programs. Jarrad is a frequent visitor at Georgia, while Houston has long been considered a lean towards Texas and Oklahoma.

Will the Irish be able to make up for lost time and become serious contender for either of these impressive Class of 2027 quarterbacks? Only time will tell, but at least they are now officially in the game.
