One of the elite defensive backs in the country, who also happens to be the nephew of one of the greatest NBA players ever, Kobe Bryant, ended his recruiting process on Thursday night with a commitment to Oregon.

Jett Washington picked up more than 30 offers during his process but recently trimmed his list of top schools down to Oregon, Alabama and USC before making his decision last night. He took an official visit to each of the three schools recently. Ohio State was also seriously considered until they were dropped from the lead pack a couple of weeks ago.

An impressive 6-foot-5, 210-pounds, Washington plays his high school football at national power Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2024 he emerged as a top-level recruit after he totaled 38 tackles, five interceptions, two pass breakups and one forced fumble. His accomplishments earned him the MaxPreps Nevada Player of the Year award.

Following his uncle’s footsteps, Washington also impressed on the basketball court over the last two seasons while leading Bishop Gorman to back-to-back state championships.

Oregon has experienced some unexpected recruiting ups-and-downs during the spring, but with Washington’s addition now have nine commitments, all of whom are four-star recruits. He is the second top commitment of the week, joining four-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton of Rochester (NY).
