Usually by the time August rolls around, the news of player arrests slows down. But that isn’t the situation in College Station, Texas, where yet another Texas A&M player was recently arrested.
Per reports by Tony Catalina of the Austin American-Statesman, defensive back Dalton Brooks was arrested on Friday for misdemeanor charges after allegedly causing more than $200 in damages to a vehicle. Brooks, who is 20-years-old, was booked and released on a $2,000 cash or surety bond.
Texas A&M was quick to release a statement on the latest arrest.
“We’re aware of the recent incident involving Dalton Brooks and are in the process of gathering all the facts. The matter will be handled internally.”
Brooks enjoyed a breakout season in 2024 with 59 tackles, six tackles for loss and two pass breakups. He played in all 13 games and had eight starts.

Brooks is the third Aggies player to get arrest during the offseason, joining wide receiver Mario Carver and running back Le’Veon Moss. Carver was arrested on felony drug charges while Moss was arrested on disorderly conduct charges before being released on bond shortly after.

While Brooks’ misdemeanor arrest likely won’t lead to anything serious for him or the Aggies, it is now part of an unnecessary trend that has developed in College Station.
