In 2024, the Auburn Tigers finished the season with a record of just 4-8. Heading into 2025 and year three of the Hugh Freeze era, the seat has never been hotter than it is now for the Auburn head coach. This comes on the back of three consecutive top-10 recruiting classes for the Tigers. With the pressure mounting, Freeze and his coaching staff were very active in the transfer portal this past offseason acquiring several top prospects to fill the holes left by departing starters. Between that and their recruiting class, the Auburn Tigers’ offense has three new upgrades on offense that can help them compete in the SEC gauntlet.

WR Eric Singleton Jr.

Georgia Tech Transfer

One of the biggest things the Auburn Tigers did was get the top wide receiver in the transfer portal on the Plains. That title belongs to Singleton. The junior receiver joins the Tigers after two strong years with the Yellow Jackets. During those two seasons, he played in 24 games and tallied 104 receptions, 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added 140 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

For those that don’t watch the ACC, Singleton was doing all of this while playing on a team that was run-dominant. As he moves to an Auburn team that will likely be more pass-heavy, Singleton could have his best season yet alongside fellow wide receivers Cam Coleman who was a star in his freshman season and fellow transfer Horatio Fields who joins from Wake Forest.

QB Jackson Arnold

Oklahoma Transfer

Another massive transfer target the Tigers brought in the program was Arnold. Arnold had a falling out with the Oklahoma Sooners which led to him entering the transfer portal and quickly joining Freeze and the Tigers. Despite being benched and not playing for a month, Arnold still finished as the leader in passing yards for the Sooners. During his time there, he played in 17 games, throwing for 1,984 yards, 16 touchdowns and just six interceptions. As he takes the reins of the Tigers, he now has more weapons than he ever had in Norman, Okla.

Arnold will be heading into his junior year as the starting quarterback. It is hard to see that if it doesn’t work out here in Auburn, both Arnold and Freeze’s jobs are on the line.

RB Alvin Henderson

2025 Four-Star

The Tigers also had one heck of a recruiting class in 2025. One of those offensively that will contribute more than people think is Henderson. The true freshman was the first running back to break the 10,000-yards mark in the state of Alabama in high school. He finished his high school career with 10,923 career yards and 202 total touchdowns. As he prepares to take his first college snaps, Henderson will absolutely have some sort of the part in the Tigers’ 2025 offense despite being a freshman.

As the Tigers lost running back Jarquez Hunter to the NFL this past offseason, Freeze will be looking for a new standout back to replace him. Senior Damari Alston and Henderson could be the favorites for that alongside former UConn transfer Durell Robinson.

While the Tigers’ schedule is difficult, it should not be impossible for them to make it to a bowl game in 2025, something they haven’t done since 2023. In order to do that, they will need to get to six wins. As is with all SEC fans, this is the baseline for Auburn as they expect some level of success. The Plains will be watching if Auburn football can have the same level of success that their basketball team had.
