[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”856″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Thoughts from the sometimes ridiculous Mind of Mike…

— I keep picturing DE Jermaine Johnson in a Ravens uniform. You ever get that way? Just knowing a player simply looks right in a specific uniform before the draft and seems like a perfect fit? No? Well, it happens to me. Johnson is a high motor guy and an elite pass rusher and the Ravens want to add to their pass rush. They only had 34 sacks last season but a promising rookie year from Odafe Oweh so adding more EDGE talent wouldn’t be a bad thing especially if Sauce Gardner and Derek Stingley Jr. are both gone by pick 14 as expected.

— I’d love to see CB Sauce Gardner paired with AJ Terrell in Atlanta and I don’t know why. They are very similar to me and tall bookends like that are rare.

— All three Alabama transfers have been very impressive in spring football. I’ve talked about Jermaine Burton lately but I’m hearing Jahmyr Gibbs is as good as expected at running back and that cornerback Elias Ricks is taking to Nick Saban’s coaching very well. Alabama simply re-loads and the portal just helps them even more.

— UGA still has the edge for elite 4-star DT Jamaal Jarrett from North Carolina despite a good trip to UNC. Clemson hasn’t offered but could get in the mix this week if they do on his visit but the Bulldogs are going to be very hard to beat here.

— The running back room at Texas is ridiculously talented led by Bijan Robinson of course but I’m hearing that Roschon Johnson and Keilan Robinson have also been very impressive and the depth there allows Steve Sarkisian to do a lot more of what he wants with the backs in the running and passing game.

— Two guys to watch out for this season who could pop into the first round discussion with a big season? Will Levis at Kentucky and Tyler Shough at Texas Tech. Both are raw in many ways but also have the arm talent to really take a huge step forward.

— We have a QB battle brewing in Clemson as Cade Klubnick has looked the part this spring and the expected next step from DJ Uiagalelei has been a small one. If Uiagalelei doesn’t win the job look for him to hit the portal where UCLA would be a great fit.

— Two teams that haven’t been in the top five nationally in recruiting in a bit could make a run in 2023. Notre Dame will have a tough time staying in the top five as other teams with fewer academic restrictions step up but they are off to their best start in ages. And USC will be there — just watch. The buzz around Lincoln Riley in LA is off the charts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
