100 Days Until Season: Let’s Celebrate When Arkansas Won 100-0

To celebrate being 100 days from the start of the college football season, we look back at Arkansas’ 100-0 victory in 1911

There are plenty of ways to celebrate the 100 Day marker to the start of the season. I have chosen to celebrate it by finding a game when a team scored 100 points. And while there are a surprising number of candidates, my choice is Arkansas.

Actually, I chose Arkansas because their 100-0 victory was against Missouri State, which ironically will be enjoying their first FBS season in 2025. Not surprisingly, specifics are limited about this game, which took place on October 8, 1911, but here are a few:

· The Missouri State Bears were known as the Missouri State Normals in 1911

· This was the season opener

· The score at halftime was 56-0

· Showing a no mercy mentality, Arkansas put in their second-string at the start of the  third quarter and only scored 12 points. So, they re-inserted the first-string in the fourth quarter and scored an additional 32 points. That wouldn’t go over too well in 2025.

The only other matchup between current D1 schools that would have qualified for the 100-point honor was Houston, who defeated Tulsa 100-6 on November 23, 1968, but today the credit goes to Arkansas.
