Every season we see new stars emerge, especially since players only stay an average of about four seasons in college football. We’re going to take a look at a few players in each conference that could be those guys this year, next is the Big Ten.
Drew Allar – Penn State QB
Drew Allar and Penn State are receiving some preseason hype, and I think it is warranted. I love their defense and believe that they now have a much better quarterback to lead the offense. Allar was a five-star kid in high school and has all the physical tools you would want. He stands at 6’5 and about 240 pounds and can sling the rock. He sat behind and learned from Sean Clifford and now I think he can take Penn State to the next level and have them competing with the likes of Michigan and Ohio State, who just so happened to be the Nittany Lions only two losses last season.

Kyle McCord – Ohio State QB
A lot of people seem to think that Kyle McCord will win the starting job at Ohio State, and I tend to agree with them. He should be able to have a stellar year just based on the wide receivers he has around him. He has easily the best WR room in the country and he got to sit back and watch top 3 pick, CJ Stroud, run that offense. He is in a really fortunate position to succeed, so if he can come out and prove he has the talent and accuracy of a typical Buckeye QB, then he could flourish.

Jeff Sims – Nebraska QB
Jeff Sims was one of the best players on Georgia Tech’s team the past couple of seasons, he just hasn’t had much help at all. I love Sims’ arm talent and mobility. He can throw a 50-yard bomb on the dot one play and then run for 50 the next. He is versatile and exactly what Matt Rhule needs to have success early in Lincoln. I love the move there by Sims and I believe this is the best QB they have had in a very long time. If the rest of the roster can develop and play well, Nebraska could be going bowling for the first time since 2016.
