Every year you have players who come out of nowhere and burst
onto the scene to take the lead of their respective teams. They may have
been injured, redshirted or just waiting their
turn, but either way they show up and show out when given their
shot. I dropped a list of some SEC players as well as Big Ten along
with some Big 12 candidates who fit the bill already, and now we
move to the ACC.
1. WR Bryant Wesco, Clemson
The blue-chip prospect out of Central Texas is a legitimate
problem for defensive backs and coaching staffs to
put it simply. Bryant Wesco is as smooth as they come with his route-running
skills to go along with his freakish body control that enables him to pluck passes out
of the air at the highest point. He comes into a wide receiver room
that desperately needs help and certainly has the ability to provide it. If the
spring game was any indication of what’s to come, then the folks in
Clemson will be very pleased this upcoming season.

2. WR Caullin Lacy, Louisville
Coming out of high school Caullin Lacy was pretty much
an under the radar prospect in the state of Alabama, ranking as just a
three-star receiver. He went to South Alabama and showed why he
deserved much more respect. Last season he broke out, finishing with 91 receptions for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns. Those totals ranked eighth and seventh in
the nation, respectfully. With head coach Brian Brohm’s wide open pass happy
offense, he should be even better while putting the ACC on notice.

3. RB Lawrance Toafili, Florida State
Last season featured a crowded backfield to say the least for
the Seminoles. They had three rushers with at least 50 attempts with
now-Arizona Cardinal Trey Benson leading the way with 156. Next up is Lawrance Toafilfi, who backed up Benson for the
majority of the season. In his limited 69 touches on the year he
rushed for 463 yards along with four touchdowns on a whopping 6.9
yards per carry. To put it simply, all he does is make big plays. Just take a look back at the ACC Championship game where he earned MVP honors. He
can put up numbers in the passing game as well out of the backfield.
This upcoming season is all his as he shined in the spring. I believe
not only the ACC will be put on notice, but the entire nation.

4. TE Elija Lofton, Miami
Elija Lofton is far from the best prospect in Miami’s
loaded recruiting class that finished ranked third in the country.
While true, he is certainly on pace to become the most
utilized as he is set to play immediately. His position says tight end,
but he is much more valuable than that. With his athleticism and
thick build, he even got some reps at running back in which he
looked the part. His name has been ringing ever since he stepped
foot on campus, and by looking at his tape you can surely see why.
The Bishop Gorman product will not only be one of the best freshman in the country, but one of the better players at his position
in general.

5. DE T.J. Parker, Clemson
The Alabama native was a five-star recruit in last
year’s 2023 class for the Tigers, and by the flashes he showed on the
field as a true freshman you can see why. While only starting three
games, T.J. Parker ended the season with almost 40 tackles along with five
and a half sacks in a great freshman campaign. Now with him taking
over the full time starting role, I see him excelling and wreaking
even more havoc on opponents. He has abnormal athleticism and
speed for his size that you cannot teach. Watch out, folks.
