The Transfer Portal has changed the entire landscape of college
football forever. In the new NIL era we basically have free agency
now, and teams can fill a missing piece or flip an entire team. Here I
rank the biggest potential impact players whom have transferred
within the SEC so far this offseason.

1. DL Walter Nolen, Ole Miss

Previous School: Texas A&M

The big boy from Memphis had an outstanding beginning
to his career for the Aggies in College Station, but after the departure of
former head coach Jimbo Fisher, changes were sure to be made.
That meant a lot of players leaving as well with Nolen being the
most important. He finished last season with nearly 40 tackles along
with four sacks. I look for the future first round pick to bring the
same disruption at Ole Miss.

2. WR Isaiah Bond, Texas

Previous School: Alabama

The speedster led the Crimson Tide a year ago in receiving
finishing with 48 receptions for 668 yards and four touchdowns.
While for a moment it was a thought for him to stay after the
retiring of Nick Saban, he decided it was best to transfer to the
longhorns of Texas. With the departures of Texas’s top wideouts, he
should fill right in and produce at a high level.

Alabama WR Isaiah Bond makes the game-winning catch in the end zone on 4th down and 31 to beat Auburn 27-24 in the 2023 Iron Bowl.

3. OT Lance Heard, Tennessee

Previous School: LSU

As a former five-star recruit from Monroe, LA, he was
bound to end up at LSU. It seems no one ever gets out of their
backyard. He is a mauling presence on the line with quick feet to
match. While he did play and even get a couple of starts, it wasn’t
quite enough for Heard so he looked elsewhere. As soon as the
whistle blows to begin the season in Knoxville, he should be a plug
and play player immediately.

4. LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Kentucky

Previous School: Georgia

As a former Butkus award finalist along with earning First
Team All-American honors and a national championship, this was
kind of a head scratcher to me. No one really knows why, but the
folks in Lexington are sure excited. He will not only bring his
absurd skillset, but his leadership as well. The players on the team
should follow everything he says and enjoy the ride.

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson (10) tackles Florida Gators running back Trevor Etienne (7) during the third quarter of an NCAA football game Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. Georgia defeated Florida 43-20.

5. RB Trevor Etienne, Georgia

Previous School: Florida

After sharing carries for his first two seasons, Etienne
should finally get the workload he deserves. At Florida he didn’t
have all of the pieces nor the volume of touches that he should have
had. With that being said, whenever he did get his chance he showed
exactly what he’s capable of. Even with being a little undersized, he
makes up for it with his strong build to go along with his vision and
burst. He should have his best year yet.
