Last but certainly not last is the SEC. This conference has been dominating the sport since the turn of the century and now adds two more powerhouses in Texas and Oklahoma. Texas has finally turned things back around and are coming off of a CFP appearance. Oklahoma made numerous playoffs and has been a top five program over the past ten seasons. The conference will feel a little different with the departure of Nick Saban. Let’s see how the teams stack up as of now.

16. Vanderbilt

15. Mississippi State

14. South Carolina

13. Arkansas

12. Texas A&M

11. Florida

The bottom of the conference looks like this. Vanderbilt has unfortunately come accustomed to being here. Mississippi State is still trying to recover from their tragic incident over a year ago and now lost their starting quarterback to Washington. South Carolina and Arkansas are in similar positions and will try to bounce back after disappointing seasons. Texas A&M is replacing Jimbo Fisher with Mike Elko and will look to climb back to relevancy. This could be a make or break season for Billy Napier and Florida. Freshman DJ Lagway looked good in the spring game, but this should be Graham Mertz’s team in 2024.

10. Auburn

9. Kentucky

8. Tennessee

7. Oklahoma

6. LSU

Auburn doesn’t compare to these other four teams in my opinion, as Hugh Freeze is still trying to rebuild that program. He does seem to have them moving in the right direction. Kentucky brings in Georgia transfer QB Brock Vandagriff and he looks to be the starter there. Tennessee and Oklahoma are both starting highly touted sophomore quarterbacks in Nico Iamaleava and Jackson Arnold respectively. Oklahoma will also play its first SEC schedule next season. LSU will look to replace Jayden Daniels and return to the conference championship game after making appearances in 2019 and 2022.

Jan 1, 2024; Orlando, FL, USA; Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava (8) receives the Cheez-It s MVP award for the win over the Iowa Hawkeyes at Camping World Stadium.

5. Missouri

4. Ole Miss

3. Alabama

2. Texas

1. Georgia

This is my top five. Missouri had a tremendous year last season and capped it off with a New Year’s Six win vs Ohio State. They return a lot of key players and bring five star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri. Ole Miss hit the portal hard and added key pieces everywhere. Ulysses Bentley IV will make up for the loss of Quinshon Judkins at RB and Walter Nolan was a key defensive addition. Alabama is obviously replacing the best coach of all time and the Crimson Tide will look a lot different next year. Jalen Milroe is back and hopes it improve off last season. Texas is coming over from the Big 12 and will be coming off of a CFP appearance in 2023. Quinn Ewers is back and Alabama transfer WR Isaiah Bond will look to make a big impact. Coming in at number one is Georgia. They return Heisman contending quarterback Carson Beck and added some weapons all around him. The defense looked really good in their spring game, and Mykel Williams stood out to me in particular. I love the new additions to the conference and that they dropped divisions. I can’t wait for the season.
