Last week Archie Manning commented about grandson and Texas quarterback Arch, saying that he will stay in college next season and not come out for the NFL Draft until 2027. Arch, the highly-touted Longhorns QB, recently addressed comments made by his grandfather regarding his potential NFL Draft timeline. Archie had suggested Arch might wait until 2027 to enter the NFL, but the young QB quickly set the record straight.

“Yeah, I don’t know where he got that from,” Arch said in a statement. “He texted me and apologized about that. I’m really just taking it day by day right now.”

This response highlights Arch’s focus on the present, sidestepping premature speculation about his professional future.

Manning Dynasty Pressure

At just 20-years-old, Arch is navigating immense expectations as a member of the storied Manning football dynasty. His grandfather’s comments, though well-intentioned, stirred buzz in college football circles, with fans and analysts dissecting what Arch’s timeline might mean for his development and Texas’ program.

By dismissing the 2027 narrative, Arch demonstrated maturity, emphasizing a grounded approach to his career. His “day by day” mindset aligns with the demands of a competitive SEC season, where he’s entering his first season as a full time starter. This exchange underscores the pressure young athletes face when family, media and fans project long-term plans. Arch’s ability to redirect the conversation to his current growth bodes well for his mental toughness. As he continues to develop, the focus remains on his performance on the field, not a distant draft.

Distant NFL Draft Plan

Arch’s response showed he’s focused on the present, not some distant NFL Draft plan. His grandfather might’ve jumped the gun with the 2027 comment, but Arch is clearly keeping his head in the game, taking it one day at a time. A smart move for a young QB navigating the hype.

Michigan Fans’ Disillusion is Unmatched

It also shows the ego and attention-seeking of former athletes or big names. Archie making that comment is probably what he wants, but it’s not his career and the 2025 season has not started. Archie needs to sit back and enjoy the season. It is way too early to make a comment like that. Especially when he was just making stuff up with no input from his grandson.

The 2025 college football season is highly anticipated, and the fun begins in just a few days. Arch takes the field Aug. 30 on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
