Fall camp is underway everywhere around college football, so
naturally, that means new players, old and new, get to show what
they can bring to the table. Let’s take a look at freshmen around the
Big Ten who are primed to break out over the next few weeks and
earn a roll if not start.
Illinois
WR Malik Elzy
Chicago, IL (Simeon)
The big-time big-bodied playmaker from the Windy City is
smooth as they come. Coming in, he has a college-ready body, and
his game will catch up soon, right along with it. It won’t be long
before he sees the field.

Indiana
EDGE TaDerius Collins
Shreveport, LA (Northwood)
Indiana doesn’t have many recruits rated highly, especially
any from the south, but TaDerius may be the outlier. The
Shreveport, LA native is a go-getter coming off of the edge. He
should find himself a role this season.
Iowa
LB Ben Kueter
Iowa City, IA (Iowa City)
Iowa’s highest-rated recruit decided to stay home and play for
the hometown Hawkeyes. Not only that, but he is also a linebacker which
means he is likely to be everything that they say he is, given Iowa’s
past with developing studs at the position. I see him in the two-deep
immediately.

Maryland
EDGE Neeo Avery
Olney, MD (Our Lady Good Counsel)
While there is a higher-rated player in his position in the class,
his film just doesn’t lie. He is a demon coming off of the edge who
plays with a mean streak. He still has to put on some weight, but his
aggressiveness to go along with his skills, will set him apart early.

Michigan
RB Benjamin Hall
Kennesaw, GA (North Cobb HS)
Although he was only rated a three-star by the national
recruiting services, he most certainly put that to bed after spring
ball. All the Georgia product did was come in and solidify his
position. Now he has two studs in front of him, but were he at any
other school, he would be in the two-deep, if not starting.

Michigan State
EDGE Bai Jobe
Norman, OK (Community Christian School)
A complete freak of nature coming off of the edge. Not only
was he the highest recruit in the Michigan State class, but his
position needs an impact player there immediately. Jobe is the
perfect answer to that problem.

Minnesota
WR Kenric Lanier
Decatur, GA (Decatur)
Originally committed to Vanderbilt, he ultimately chose to go
up North, which was a huge win for the Gophers. The high school All-
American is a route technician who can also burn you deep. I
believe we will see him early and often.

Nebraska
DL Cameron Lenhardt
Bradenton, FL (IMG Academy)
While fellow classmate Malachi Coleman (WR) was the
crown jewel of the class, I think Lenhardt has a great shot to carve
out a role. Nebraska is in its first season of a complete rebuild, and
he has impressed the veterans already during fall camp. If he can
keep it up, expect him to get plenty of snaps.
Northwestern
OT Jordan Knox
Rock Hill, SC (Northwestern)
The big mauler from the South was a coup of a win stealing
him from the Gamecocks. Primarily played tackle in HS, but I
believe he will kick inside at guard eventually. Either way he is too
good to keep off the field.
Ohio State
WR Carnell Tate
Bradenton, FL (IMG Academy)
From day one, Tate has been nothing but steady. Coming in
as one of type top WRs in the entire country, he has done nothing to
change that perception. He balled out in the spring game and has
continued that during fall camp. He will play a major role this
season.

Penn State
LB Tony Rojas
Fairfax, VA (Fairfax)
A heat-seeking missile is everywhere on the field when
you turn on the tape. He has great speed for a linebacker but also
packs a punch when he arrives to hit you. Penn State already has a
pretty good LB room, but he is way too good to keep off the field.

Purdue
TE George Burhenn
Mount Vernon, IN (Mount Vernon)
When the new staff was hired, they immediately got on
Burhenn to get him to sign. Growing up a Purdue fan only
helped that. Once you watch him play, you certainly see why. With
the new Air-Raid offense that Graham Harrel is bringing in, he
should excel.

Rutgers
EDGE Djibril Abdou Rahman
Montreal, QC (Cegep du Vieux)
The big pass rusher from up North in Canada is the next in a
recent line of Canadians to head over to Rutgers. All he did when
you watch the film is dominate everyone in front of him. There is some depth at his position, but he’s talented enough to carve out a
role.
Wisconsin
S Braedyn Moore
Hamilton, OH (Stephen T. Badin)
A rangy athlete who can cover both halves of the field. He
does pretty well in coverage but can also be a great asset in the run
game. The word is he already has made an impression, and it’s not
hard to see why. Expect to hear his name a lot for the Badgers this
upcoming season.
