On November 23, 2024, one of the most highly anticipated games of the season is set to take place, and it’s a matchup I’m particularly excited about. The No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers will face the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in a game that could significantly shape the top half of the College Football Playoff bracket. Here, I share my insights on both signal-callers and outline the keys to victory for each team.
Kurtis Rourke: Indiana Hoosiers
Season stats: 2,410, 21 TD, 4 INT, QBR of 88.1 (2nd in the country ), 2 rushing TD
I anticipate Kurtis Rourke elevating his game, turning it up a few notches. He has the ability to make the right plays at critical moments, and if momentum shifts in his favor, it could be a game-changer for Indiana.

Keys to the game for Indiana:
Attack Through the Air: The wide receivers need to consistently create separation against the Buckeye secondary. Aggressive play in the passing game will be key to keeping Ohio State’s defense on its toes.

Establish the Run: A strong running game is essential. Empower the offensive line to control the trenches and create lanes for the backs to exploit.
The Rourke Effect: Let Rourke take charge. This is the game to open up the playbook and allow him to showcase his full arsenal. Whether through dynamic throws or smart decision-making, Rourke’s impact will be crucial to Indiana’s success.
Will Howard, Ohio State
Season stats: 2,484, 24 TD, 5 INT, QBR of 85.5 (4th in country ), 6 rushing TD
I believe we’ll see Howard deliver the best performance of his career in this game. His ability to use his legs will be the difference-maker, as he leans on his mobility to create opportunities and keep the defense guessing.

Keys to the game for Ohio State:
Run Game: Get the ball into the hands of your playmakers. Establishing the ground game will open up opportunities elsewhere and keep Indiana’s defense on its heels.
Passing Game: Take advantage of mismatches in the secondary. Ohio State’s star receivers could dominate if Indiana leaves gaps in coverage.
Quarterback Play: Run the offense through Howard. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who can make plays both through the air and on the ground. His running ability will be crucial in keeping Indiana’s defense off balance.
My prediction:
Indiana has multiple receivers who can make plays, along with a quarterback who can deliver the ball effectively. Ohio State also boasts multiple receivers and a quarterback capable of making plays. Both sides have the opportunity to succeed offensively. The deciding factors will be which team runs the ball more effectively and commits fewer turnovers. I anticipate this being a close game, with Ohio State emerging victorious, 30-27. It won’t be a blowout.
