There were plenty of bright spots during the Colorado’s 2024 season, but the rushing attack was not one of them. And now it has gotten worse as it was announced that the leading returning rusher, Isaiah Augustave, is no longer with the program.

Augustave wasn’t seen at any of the recent practices but was thought to be injured, so this news came as a surprise to many. As mentioned, the Buffaloes rushing attack struggled throughout the 2024 season, with Augustave leading the way with only 384 yards and four touchdowns. He is expected to enter the transfer portal when it reopens on April 16th.
With Augustave gone, the leading returning rushes are now Dallan Hayden, who rushed for 196 yards and one touchdown, and Micah Welch, who rushed for 186 yards and four touchdowns. Colorado was likely to add some running back depth through the portal during the spring before Augustave’s departure, so now that becomes even more of a necessity.
This also marks the second straight year that Colorado has lost its leading rusher to the portal, with both Dylan Edwards (Kansas State) and Anthony Hankerson (Oregon State) departing after the 2023 season.
