Minutes after it was announced that Georgia quarterback Carson Beck had plans to enter the transfer portal, Miami became the favorite to obtain his services. It is a logical destination with the Canes still in the market for a Cam Ward replacement. However, Miami has another advantage that no other school can compete with:

Beck’s relationship with Hanna Cavinder, who plays on the Canes’ basketball team, isn’t much of a secret on social media, but it suddenly seems more important with his likely entry into the portal. Miami is a destination that makes sense for Beck overall, but adding Cavinder into the mix gives the Canes a huge advantage.

Other schools like Ohio State and Texas Tech have also been mentioned regarding Beck, and he is supposedly open to listening to other programs. However, it is difficult to imagine this “recruitment” ending anywhere else but Coral Gables.

Recruiting is cutthroat so any advantage will be utilized immediately. Luckily for Miami, this advantage was one that fell into their lap.
