Watching college football on television has changed in many ways in recent years. Most notably, finding a game can sometimes be somewhat frustrating with the numerous channels and streaming services that broadcast. One Ohio lawmaker is so frustrated that he wants to make it illegal for a Buckeyes’ game to be exclusively aired on a streaming service.
Ohio senator Bill DeMora, frustrated by Ohio State's constant appearances on Peacock, has introduced legislation to ban Ohio State football games from airing exclusively on a streaming service.

Senator Bill DeMora is serving his first term in the Ohio Senate after being elected to the General Assembly in November, 2022. He represents the 25th Senate District which not surprisingly, includes Ohio State University.
Senator DeMora’s frustrations are with the Big Ten’s deal with NBC/Peacock, which includes eight regular-season football games per season. One of those eight in 2024 was Ohio State’s versus Michigan State, which set the senator off.
There is one enormously wealthy reason why Senator DeMora’s attempts will fail. The Big Ten signed this deal with NBC/Peacock in 2022, which is for seven years and will pay the conference $7 billion. This will eventually lead to all 16 of the Big Ten schools receiving $80 million to $100 million per year.

And with that, Senator DeMora’s dream of watching every Ohio State football game on NBC dies a very quick death.
