There have been a few cancellations of spring games across the country this year. That will not happen
at Clemson, according to Head Coach Dabo Swinney and reported by On3.com.
NEW: Dabo Swinney says that canceling spring games 'ain't gonna stop tampering'
“We’re going to have a spring game… whether you have a spring game or not it’s going to be tampering.
Ain’t nobody going to go look at the spring game, go, ‘Oh yeah, boy'”https://t.co/l3drQFWTrh pic.twitter.com/oh2f0P6ApI

Nebraska, Texas, USC, among others, have canceled their spring games this year. Many coaches have
cited tampering as a reason for canceling the game. They don’t want other coaches watching their
players and decide to try to sign them.
The Clemson Tigers and Dabo Swinney are clearly not worried about tampering and question if the
spring game makes it easier to tamper.
“We’re going to have a spring game and I hope we can have some type of fan day with it as well,” Dabo
Swinney said. “I don’t know, we’ll see. Listen, whether you have a spring game or not it’s going to be
tampering.”

Swinney mentioned the fact that coaches already have the information they need with services like Pro
Football Focus,
“That’s called PFF, they’ve got everything on everybody already. Canceling the spring
game ain’t going to stop tampering. We’re going to need a lot more help than that to stop tampering.
And hopefully at some point that’ll happen.”
Even though most schools like Clemson will be having spring games, the trend seems to be heading
away from these games. If it’s because of the threat of tempering or injuries, many schools will likely
move toward an NFL model with organized team activities (OTAs) throughout the spring and summer.
