Now that we are halfway through the 2020’s, it is a good time to see how each Big 12 team has done to this point. Here is a closer look at all 16 schools that are currently members of the conference
Top Tier
1. BYU: 45-18 (71.4%)
2. Cincinnati: 39-22 (63.9%)
3. Kansas State: 40-23 (63.49%)
4. Oklahoma State: 40-24 (62.5%)

5. Utah: 36-22 (62.1%)
6. TCU: 38-24 (61.3%)
Review: More than any other conference, the upheaval in the Big 12 over the last few years has made this list somewhat chaotic. Half of the six teams in the top tier have been in the Big 12 for less than three seasons, so a few of these numbers are somewhat skewed. BYU fattened up on an Independent schedule for the first three seasons of this decade, while Cincinnati did the same against AAC opponents. The most successful long-time member of the conference has been Kansas State, closely followed by Oklahoma State, which is coming off a disastrous 3-9 season in 2024.
Middle Tier
7. Iowa State: 38-26 (59.38%)
8. Texas Tech: 34-28 (54.84%)
UCF: 34-28 (54.84%)
9. West Virginia: 32-29 (52.5%)
10. Houston: 31-28 (52.54%)
11. Baylor: 31-30 (50.8%)
12. Arizona State: 27-28 (49.1%)
Review: A few teams in the middle tier are trending in opposite directions. Both UCF and Houston have experienced difficulties since arriving from the AAC prior to the 2023 season, while expectations are on the rise at both Texas Tech and Arizona State. As for Iowa State, they’ve enjoyed a successful start to the decade with four bowls and an 11-3 season in 2024.

Bottom Tier
13. Colorado: 22-33 (40.0%)
14. Kansas: 22-37 (37.3%)
15. Arizona: 20-34 (37.04%)
Review: Overall, Colorado has had a rough start to the decade, but since head coach Deion Sanders’ arrival prior to the 2023 season they have gone a more respectable 13-12. Kansas has also been much better over the last three seasons after a disastrous 2-19 start, while Arizona flourished in 2023 at 10-3, but have gone 12-34 the rest of the way.
