Dabo Swinney on the Transfer Portal:
"We're not against the portal… Everybody just likes to make up their own stories and narratives and they like to get a bunch of clicks and all that, but in the meantime, we just keep winning." 💯 pic.twitter.com/WPhOgPESdw

There has been a lot of debate in recent years about the use of the transfer portal. Some schools revamp their teams by signing a bunch of players out of the portal, while others take little to no transfers. Many believe that high school recruiting is still the best way to build your program.
Swinney had been criticized in the past for his lack of use of the transfer portal. He is considered one of the best recruiters and relies on the fact that not many players transfer out of Clemson.

“You can’t have the highest graduation rate in America and you can’t be on top in the country in retention, ya know, in this crazy free agent world and go sign a million portal guys.” Swinney said “…we are not against the portal; we’ve used the portal three of the last four years.”
“The portal is a great tool…Everybody just likes to make up their own stories and narratives and they like to get a bunch of clicks and all that, but in the meantime, we just keep winning.”
Clemson is consistently one of the top teams in the recruiting rankings each year. Swinney has led the Tigers to nine ACC championships and two national championships. They may not be taking a bunch of transfers, but Dabo is definitely doing some things right.
