The Fred Biletnikoff Award is presented to the most outstanding receiver each year. The Biletnikoff Award was created by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club in 1994, with Penn State WR Bobby Engram taking home the inaugural award. Pittsburgh WR Jordan Addison won the award last year and is looking to become the third receiver to win the trophy in back-to-back seasons.

Biletnikoff contenders in alphabetical order

  • Brock Bowers, Georgia
  • Roderic Burns, North Texas
  • Jacob Cowing, Arizona
  • Daewood Davis, Western Kentucky
  • Grant DuBose, Charlotte
  • Zay Flowers, Boston College
  • Zakhari Franklin, UTSA
  • Xavier Hutchison, Iowa State
  • Charlie Jones, Purdue
  • Cedric Tillman, Tennessee

Top 3

3. Jordan Addison, Senior, USC

Stats:

  • 18 Receptions
  • 295 Yards
  • 5 TDs

Jordan Addison won this award last year and once again finds himself in the top 3. Addison is the main target at USC and has shown the nation why he was the best WR in college football last year. Against Stanford and Fresno State, Addison wreaked havoc on opposing DBs en route to 13 catches, over 200 yards, and three scores. If Addison wins the award this year, it marks the first time a player has won the Biletnikoff two years in a row on different teams.

2. Marvin Mims, Junior, Oklahoma

Stats:

  • 14 Receptions
  • 310 Yards
  • 2 TDs

Since he arrived in Norman, fans expected Mims to become the next great Sooner WR. With Brent Venables at HC, Mims seems to enjoy himself and the offense. He is on a tear this season and is proving himself as one of the best receivers in all of college football, rightfully putting him in the top 3 for this prestigious award. Mims can be the second Oklahoma player to win the Biletnikoff after Dede Westbrook became the first in 2016.

1. Ali Jennings III, Junior, Old Dominion

Stats:

  • 20 Receptions
  • 419Yards
  • 4 TDs

If you don’t know who Ali Jennings is, then it’s time to learn. The junior WR has been unstoppable through three games for the Monarchs averaging over 20 yards per catch. Jennings was dominant last year, eclipsing 1K yards on 62 catches. Despite ODU’s record of 1-2, Jennings is a diamond in the rough and an unknown college star that deserves more love. Jennings has not faced a tough defensive team yet; however, his stats are too good to pass up. Based on history, G5 schools have not won this award this century; however, if anyone in college can break it, I’d put my money on Ali Jennings.
