George attended Ohio State from 1992-1995. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1995 when he
rushed for 1,927 yards. He had a nine-year NFL career with Houston/Tennessee and Dallas
rushing for over 10,000 yards. After his playing career ended, he earned an MBA from
Northwestern University, became an entrepreneur, actor, and professor.

In 2021, George was named head coach at Tennessee State. In four seasons, the Tigers went
24-22 under his leadership. They finished first in the Big Sky and made the NCAA Division 1

“I am truly excited to be the head coach at Bowling Green State University,” George said in a
statement. “Bowling Green is a wonderful community that has embraced the school and the
athletics department…I look forward to meeting the team, the coaches, everyone in the
athletics department, and everyone in the BGSU and Bowling Green community.”

This is a great hire for both parties. George gets to move up a level in the collegiate ranks and
will make nearly twice as much in salary. Bowling Green gets the star-power of George with
NFL connections.
