The countdown to the 2024 college football season kickoff has begun, and the anticipation is to die for! I’m expecting some high-scoring thrillers and epic matchups that will keep us on the edge of our seats. After reviewing data, player development, and coaching staffs, I’m excited to share my top picks for who I believe will be the most explosive offense in each conference this season. We are in for a treat!

ACC: NC State

There’s something for Wolfpack fans to be excited about. The roster is well-rounded, with key contributors like Grayson McCall from Coastal Carolina and former Duke running back Jordan Waters joining the team. This strategy by the coaching staff aims to elevate the offense. The Wolfpack return a strong offensive line that can clear the path for the backs d provide solid pass protection. The receiving corps will also generate excitement in the college football world, especially with Kevin “KC” Concepcion looking to build on his dynamic freshman season in 2024. The offense seems complete this time around. Last season, the Wolfpack went 9-4 and earned a spot in the Pop-Tart Bowl. Can they take the next step? I believe so.

SEC: Tennessee

The Volunteers have been preparing to dominate the field, led by dynamic quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The offensive line and running back group will be key components. The addition of several key players is the final piece of the puzzle the Vols need to compete for a playoff spot. Despite not getting enough credit, the Vols are looking to maximize their abundance of talent. The team finished 9-4, earning a spot in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. Will Nico be ready to put the offense on his shoulders? I firmly believe so.

Big Ten: Penn State

The Nittany Lions have the pieces to the puzzle; now they need to figure out how to connect the dots and make it work. They will be led by Drew Allar, a quarterback who’s no stranger to success. Having a quarterback who knows how to play the game correctly is invaluable, as games are often decided by turnovers and third-down situations. The Lions return a dynamic backfield of players who know how to get the job done. Julian Fleming will be a key piece in their chase for a playoff berth and, hopefully, a national championship bid. This might be one of the most complete teams in the country. They finished 10-3, earning a spot in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Is Drew Allar as good as people say he is? I believe Allar is even better than advertised—someone you have to see in person.

Big 12 : Kansas State

Hear me out! The best offenses of the past have typically featured one or two explosive impact players, but the Wildcats have three to four just on offense. I anticipate a lot of points being put on the board by this group. The offensive line is set for an impressive year, which could make this rushing attack something to be reckoned with. They have a playmaker in Avery Johnson, who might put his name in the mix for the Heisman contention. Johnson is explosive, quick, and fast. He’s a shifty runner with the jets to take it the distance. He still needs to prove himself as an elite passer, but he gets the job done and is accurate when doing so. In the air, Jayce Brown is a vertical threat, possibly moving to the slot. On the ground, Dylan Edwards transfers in from Colorado, and DJ Giddens returns. The offensive coordinator has a lot of weapons at his disposal. The Wildcats finished 9-4 last season, earning a spot in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
