In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Cheating is why Michigan is good now.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Let’s be real. Michigan has a loaded team, and Jim Harbaugh has recruited and assembled a great team through recruiting and the portal. And they’ve beaten up on teams, Ohio State included, because they are better and more physical. So all these fans claiming “we know why they suddenly became good” don’t know anything about football. Did it help? Maybe, if it was even done. But it’s not the reason Michigan is awesome.

2. The entire Michigan situation is simply false accusations.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Let’s be real here too. Those who say Michigan staffer Connor Stalions bought all these tickets for military friends are just fooling themselves. And saying Michigan did nothing wrong to the letter of NCAA law is a joke. Whether the NCAA bylaws are dumb or outdated and whether we should have technology on the field is irrelevant. Something happened here, and denying any wrongdoing is simply dumb.
The Wyld Stalions scandal deepens.
Suspended Michigan staffer Connor Stalions reportedly bought 30 tickets to 11 Big Ten games. In-stadium surveillance video and other evidence is expected to be turned over to the NCAA this week.https://t.co/oC5ZS0Obtd

3. The truth is always somewhere in between.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The Michigan situation likely isn’t as egregious as many want to think, and it’s probably not just some dumb coincidence as Michigan fans want to believe. Is something fishy here? Yep. Is it also common in college football? Probably. I’ve become kind of apathetic to cheating now that it’s legal to buy players and such, and this likely isn’t a big deal. I guess that puts me in the middle.
