In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Auburn took the worst loss of the season in the Power Five.
Farrell’s take: FACT
It’s hard to argue as this was bad, really bad. Auburn paid New Mexico State to come and lose and pad their win total, and the Tigers came away with an embarrassing loss. UMass beat New Mexico State, as did Hawaii, and what’s worse is that Hugh Freeze’s old squad, Liberty, handled them with ease as well. This was simply a terrible loss.

2. Washington should be in the top four.
Farrell’s take: FACT
I have them at No. 3 behind Georgia and Ohio State and ahead of Florida State, and their resume is certainly better than that of a Michigan team embroiled in controversy. Their win over Oregon is as good as anyone’s in the country and they are being a bit disrespected here. It’s not a huge deal as if they win out, they are in, but it’s still a tad ridiculous.

3. Caleb Williams will play in a bowl game.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Not a chance, and he shouldn’t. Williams likely wouldn’t have played in a bowl game short of a playoff appearance, as he’s kind of the opposite of Bryce Young when it comes to unselfishness, but to play in a bowl for a 7-5 team with a coach that did him a disservice by allowing horrible defensive play week after week would simply be a bad business decision.
