With the high number of transfers annually changing schools, many will succeed at their new home while many will also disappoint. Below is a list of the five offensive players who will disappoint in 2025.
1. QB Carson Beck – Miami (Georgia)
If you missed it, I had Beck on my recent list of the most impactful offensive transfers, but that does not mean that I think he will do that in a positive way. The Canes are replacing Cam Ward with Beck, who digressed in many statistical categories after a very promising 2023 season at Georgia. On top of that, he is coming off elbow surgery that will keep him out of practice till summer. While it wouldn’t stun me if he bounced back to his 2023 form, with more of the team’s success firmly depending on him in Coral Gables, right now I just don’t see it happening.
2. QB Jackson Arnold – Auburn (Oklahoma)
After being handed the starting job last season at Oklahoma, Arnold failed to meet expectations which led to a disappointing season in Norman. It didn’t help that he followed Dillon Gabriel, who transferred to Oregon, or that expectations were placed at an absurdly high level by some, but overall, the season resulted in his transfer to Auburn. The Tigers dealt with their own quarterback disaster in 2024 and now turn to Arnold for answers. For me, this is an odd solution to their problem. Arnold will need to show improvement quickly if he is to quiet the doubters in Auburn, who are desperate for a better season.

3. WR Duce Robinson – Florida State (USC)
At 6-foot-6, 220-pounds, Robinson is a unique talent at wide receiver. He flashed some of that during his two seasons at USC with 39 receptions for 748 yards and seven touchdowns but never became a consistent threat. And now he will be depended on to become that with Thomas Castellanos as his quarterback, who has completed only 58.6% of his collegiate passes. I do believe that Robinson has the talent to become a star at the college level (and possibly the NFL), but I don’t think it will happen at Florida State in 2025.
4. WR Micah Hudson – Texas A&M (Texas Tech)
The five-star talent only totaled eight receptions for 123 yards during his true freshman 2024 season. This led to his transfer to Texas A&M. However, it is now March 17th, the Aggies start spring practice on March 20th, and nobody really seems sure if Hudson will be playing with the Aggies. There were rumors that he might transfer back to Texas Tech, but that didn’t happen (yet). If he stays in College Station, transfers back to Lubbock or ends up at an entirely different school during the upcoming spring transfer window, the career trajectory for Hudson isn’t off to a great start.

5. WR Nic Anderson – LSU (Oklahoma)
After a very promising 2023 season (38 receptions for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns), Anderson only played in one game in 2024 due to an upper quad injury. Now he is in Baton Rouge hoping to jumpstart his career. The Tigers have talent and depth at the position, with leading receiver Aaron Anderson and Zavion Thomas returning, plus the addition of another top transfer, Barion Brown (Kentucky). With only one ball in play, not every receiver will be a focal point of the offense, which could easily leave Anderson on the outside looking in.
