WATCH: Head Coach Piles On to Ohio State’s Misery

Ohio State’s loss to Michigan has resulted in plenty of shots and jokes. On Monday, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown poured more salt on the wound.

Saturday was a bad day for Ohio State. The loss to Michigan will be remembered for decades and as a result head coach Ryan Day continues to get shots from all angles. Most of those shots are coming from fans, but a head coach added to the barrage yesterday with some interesting comments.

Just as Saturday was a miserable day for Ohio State, it was a day of celebration for Syracuse. The Orange pulled off a huge victory for the program with a win at home against Miami. The win put Syracuse at 9-3, an impressive accomplishment for first-year head coach Fran Brown.

One huge reason for Syracuse’s success has been the play of quarterback Kyle McCord, which the Orange grabbed from the transfer portal after he decided to leave Ohio State. By now everyone knows that it wasn’t much of a mutual decision, but more of a decision by the Buckeyes to head in a different direction at quarterback. Coach Brown and Syracuse have reaped the benefits of this decision all season and the coach had no problems expressing his appreciation and thankfulness during Monday’s interview:

While Coach Brown said, “I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful”, which I believe to be true, the comments just added more salt to Ohio State’s gaping wound. One reason McCord was replaced was because he couldn’t beat Michigan, which is true. But then he passed for 4,326 yards and 29 touchdowns this season. His replacement, Will Howard, also couldn’t beat the Wolverines, and he passed for 1,460 yards less than McCord.

Nobody knows how Ohio State would’ve played this season if they had decided to keep McCord. But when it comes to him, the decision turned out perfectly. And for the Buckeyes, they’ll have to deal with the shots and jokes. If they make an impressive run in the playoffs then it’ll fade for the time being, otherwise, it’ll linger for almost another year when the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines once again.
