“Recently, Coach Freeze was diagnosed with an early form of prostate cancer. Thankfully, it was
detected early and his doctors have advised that it is very treatable and curable,” the Auburn statement
read. “He will continue his normal coaching duties and responsibilities, and with forthcoming proper
treatment, is expected to make a full recovery. Coach Freeze is incredibly appreciative of our medical
professionals and has asked that we use his experience as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing
and scheduling annual health screenings.”
In his first two seasons at Auburn, the Tigers are 11-14 overall and 5-11 in SEC. They were 5-7 in 2024.
Prior to his arrival on the Plains, he went 35-15 in four seasons at Liberty when in 2019 he had to
undergo emergency surgery to address a staph infection.
A cancer diagnosis can be a traumatic experience. Luckily this was caught early. This reminds us that it is
very important for people to get their health screenings. We all wish High Freeze a full and speedy
recovery.
