We are now past the midway point of the season and quickly
moving towards the College Football Playoff rankings. Until then
and after, just as the AP poll does, I will rank my top five teams each
week. Let’s begin.
1. Georgia
The Bulldogs have now won an eye-opening 25 games in a
row, along with being ranked atop the AP polls for a 20th straight
week. After a 43-20 drubbing over Florida this weekend, I don’t see
them slowing down. They may very well just three-peat this season.
2. Michigan
Michigan comes in right behind Georgia as they have been
dominant all season for the most part. Aside from all the hoopla with
the stealing signs investigation going on, J.J. McCarthy has been
playing his best ball as he hopes to lead the Wolverines to another College
Football Playoff.
3. Florida State
The majority of the pundits may have Ohio State in this
slot, but I feel Florida State has been more consistent against better
competition. With Heisman Trophy candidate Jordan Travis under
the center, along with Keon Coleman being a complete mismatch on
the outside, I like their makeup.

4. Ohio State
You can honestly flip-flop between three and four, but I
have Ohio State here for the time being. They have all the tools in
every position except for the quarterback. While Kyle McCord has
been steady and no scrub by any means, I’m not convinced just yet
that he can get them over the top. Good thing is they have Heisman
candidate Marvin Harrison Jr. on the outside as the best WR in the
country. They also have J.T. Tuimoloau, who is a beast in the
trenches, on the other side leading the defense.
5. Washington
The Huskies have had one of the most explosive offenses
in the country the last couple of seasons, with Heisman trophy
candidate Michael Penix Jr. leading the charge. He’s the
front-runner as of now, in my opinion. He leads the entire country in
passing yards while coming in at second in touchdowns. The
Huskies also have the second-best WR in the country in Rome Odunze. As long as they stay healthy, they can most certainly
represent the Pac-12 in the College Football Playoff.
