A member of the 2019 National Championship team at LSU, running back John Emery Jr. announced this afternoon on Instagram that he would be returning for yet another season.

The last two seasons have been especially difficult for Emery, who tore his ACL each year. On top of that, he also missed the 2021 season and his junior year of high school due to injuries.
When he has been healthy, Emery has been productive, rushing for 1,123 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Tigers. This included a positive start to the 2024 season with 61 yards on 10 carries against USC, until his most recent injury occurred.
It is important to note that Emery may not return to LSU for his swan song. His injury history is sure to limit his available opportunities, but as long as he can stay healthy he is likely to find his way onto a roster in 2025.
