Just because a high school recruit is ranked as a five-star doesn’t mean that future success is guaranteed. While it is still early, that is the way that the situation is trending with Oregon redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jurrion Dickey.
After head coach Dan Lanning spoke to the media later in the day, it was revealed that Dickey’s suspension is “indefinite”.
“We’ve got two team rules: be respectful and be on time. There are some pieces of that where I felt like he needed a break from us, and we needed a break from him, so we can focus on what’s in front of us right now. Wishing him nothing but the best as far as success, and I want to see him get back to where he could be a contributor.”
A Class of 2023 recruit, Dickey arrived in Eugene with plenty of hype but to this point he had only totaled two receptions for 14 yards in 15 games. With a great deal of transition at the wide receiver position in Eugene from last season, there was hope that this would be the season that he would finally begin to reach his potential. This was especially true after a spring that culminated in a very positive performance during the spring game. But now everyone will have to wait even longer.
