Longhorns, Vols Top List of Most Sensitive Fan Bases

An updated look at which college football fan bases are the most sensitive

1. Texas

From Horns Down is unsportsmanlike to the endless complaints about rankings and being stuck in the Big 12, they’ve been notorious. And just when it finally started to settle down last season after their playoff appearance, it’s back again covered by an arrogance that can only be explained by insecurity.

2. Tennessee

Vols fans have always been sensitive. They are also amongst the most passionate (that updated list coming shortly) but any slight to their program is often blown out of proportion and they rally like no one else. Sensitivity often comes from a long span between successes and they are still wanting the Fulmer years back badly. Josh Heupel has helped but the sensitivity remains.

3. Florida State

They jump up the list based on the playoff snub even though they have every right to feel jaded. Mike Norvell has them back to where they were in the Bobby Bowden age and for a short time under Jimbo Fisher. They got screwed. But the unrelenting complaints have tired many out and they have now been deemed a sensitive group. Again passion can sometimes lead to sensitivity and now the cries to get out of the ACC and the continued misguided Kirk Herbstreit hate are becoming incessant.

4. Florida

Gators fans are odd and very sensitive in a different way than most. They support any new coach until one thing goes wrong and they want him fired. And then they deny it or blame the “few and far between” who do this. But it’s all of them. They turn on their own unlike any fan base I’ve seen. Again, it comes down to a desperate want to be relevant again like the Urban Meyer days and it’s understandable but it makes them sensitive.

5. Michigan

Ahhh Michigan fans. They are slightly more sensitive than their rival fans at Ohio State but that’s about to change it seems. Winning it all can change a sensitivity so they have gone down from near the top of any list since the national title. The cheeseburger and sign stealing issues this season brought out the true sensitivity of the fan base but that is fading as Ohio State is closing in on being more sensitive. Winning can cure all and they should drop off this list by the end of this upcoming season.
