Is there tampering in college football? Obviously. Are there ways to try and curb it? Not likely right now. Is not having your spring game one way to try and curb tampering of players during the spring? No, that makes no sense. Yet, that is what Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule announced earlier today as a likely scenario:
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule says he 'highly doubts' there will be a traditional spring game.

This is the definition of overthinking by Coach Rhule. A spring game is a scrimmage, and that is being nice. It is more of a WWE version of a regular game. On top of that, many of the top players are benched because of the threat of injury.
So, what is Coach Rhule worrying about? Does he think that his third-string quarterback will look like Patrick Mahomes against walk-ons and suddenly get poached by Georgia? Will a freshman cornerback intercept a quarterback who has never thrown a collegiate pass and get poached by Texas? The answer to both of these is no.
The Nebraska spring game is highly attended and highly anticipated in Lincoln. If Coach Rhule is serious about the possibility of cancelling it, then he is wrong. Play the game Coach.
