Texas offensive lineman Nick Brooks, a Class of 2025 signee who has only been on campus for a few months, had an interesting weekend in Austin. News of his arrest for DWI leaked out over the weekend, but since then more information has emerged.

Texas Longhorns football player Nick Brooks told an officer that he was coming from a 21 and up club on West 6th that “makes exceptions for UT football players" before he was arrested for DWI, documents show. https://t.co/hdfUY1lOka

The story by Fox 7 Austin shares details that will raise plenty of questions. Aside from admitting to “smoking marijuana and using a vape pen before getting behind the wheel”, Brooks, who is 18 years old, then told the officer that he was driving from a 21 and up club that “makes exemptions for UT football players.”

To make things even worse, he also admitted that he was taking “two prospective players”, better known as recruits, to the strip club.

After the incident, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian released the following statement:

“We’re aware of the situation with Nick Brooks, have talked with him and are gathering information. We will continue to monitor the legal process and address this situation within the team at the appropriate time.”

While Brooks was extremely honest, it is safe to assume that the Longhorns wish he wasn’t as honest as he was. It will be interesting to see what comes of this situation in the coming days and weeks.
